|
|
Hello,
I bought an iPaq 3970 and Navman 3400 over 2y ago, and the maps are now quite old and out of date (still on V1 I think) and am thinking about buying the SmartST V3 software as an upgrade to get me through the next year or so.
Although my current maps are old and some out of date, they still managed to guide me around UK and Europe and bring me back home in one piece.
At 149 GBP for the Pan-European maps and V3 guidance software (from Navman on-line store), I consider it to be good value for money.
Would that be a smart buy, or shall I consider spending more and get something more up to date, like one with Speed Camera info etc.?
Money is a slight issue at the moment , hence I am contemplating a software upgrade alone at this stage
Thanks for your advice in advance

I also consider V3 to be good value for money at £149 for the EU maps and I'm not sure what other company does EU maps at this price. As for being up to date, V3 will accept the PGPSW $afety camera database.
Tomtom V5 (due out soon) I think will set you back around £200 for the full EU maps. One advantage this has over Navman is full 7 digit postcode lookup for the UK (and full postcode lookup for Holland too, if you have the maps), but one disadvantage is that you have to switch maps at borders and the like, whereas Navman will route you from Sweden to Spain if your device has enough memory.
Oh, and V3 works just fine on a 3970. _________________ Tim |

Thanks for the advice :D
Now I just have to find the money to get the software now, and a 512MB card to store the maps for a trip to Italy scheduled for Oct 05 8)
Thanks again :D
