hi, i am very new to this game so please bear with me. I bought a second hand tom tom go and it already has quite a few POI's on it. for instance i have a great list of restaurants which includes macdonalds. If i now added the macdonalds database from this site onto my sd card would it overwrite the existing ones i already have. my concern is that a) i would be using up valuable space on my sd card if i had two of every macdonalds stored on it b)my screen would be very clutered with POI's if there were two icons for all my POI's on there c)if there were two of the same POI stored on my SD card from two different sources they might have very slightly differing locations, which would i trust. I would be very grateful for any help with this matter. I want to copy onto my SD card all the POI's i can get my hands on but I'm not sure what happens when i copy POI's that are already present on my SD card

If you copy a poi to your SD card and there is already a file of that name in existence, you will be asked if you want to overwrite the file. So the answer to your first is, it depends what you've got and what you're getting.

You also have to bear in mind that there is a limit of 40 POI's that can be added as extras to TTG's own Poi.dat. Also the more poi's enabled will have a small effect on the processing time.

a:- Yes you could be using up a lot of space.
b:- You don't have to show the Poi on the map display to be able to navigate to them, or find the nearest.
c:- You wouldn't know which to trust until you had tried them out.

I don't know which size SD card you have, but if you do not leave some space free, the TTG could lock up as it needs space to write journey information.

If you decide you want to amalgamate two files we can go through that later. Just remember the bigger the Poi file the longer TTG takes to search it.
