|

I recently acquired the Blue Logger and have been trying to get to grips with it. So far I have managed to manage it via my PC and have produced and downloaded both .raw files and Standard text files.
I understand that I will have to buy PostPro 2 to do anything useful with the raw files so I will need to get saving ;)
Now I do seem to be having problems using the Standard output. I cannot get TT3 or MM2004 or PPC GPS utilities to read the GPS data (apps set to NMEA). Niether can I get R J Davies LogConverter to read the Text output despite it having a Blue Logger input option. So I am now thinking that Blue Logger has a NMEA 2.0 output which is not compatible with NMEA0183. I am very new to all this so I might well be talking rubbish. Can anyone put me straight? |

The output will probably use other punctuation marks than what your programs expect - dot instead of colon (comma), for example. But you can actually specify this in the Windows settings of your computer.
I thought that the LogConverter does already support the Blue Logger format...
(By the way, NMEA versions don't matter here) _________________ Lutz

Thanks Ibendlin - do you really mean windows settings? .. or windows application settings? lbendlin wrote: |

Yes I understood it does but I get a message saying 0 records read and all the rest ignored. Perhaps I need to contact Oldie?

This is what I was assuming - so if I switch off my TT BT reciever and then start my Blue Logger (adjusting the BT pairing etc.) I should be able have the Blue Logger running MM or TT in real time as normal. The BT seems to be working but the GPS (NMEA?) does not get through. Could be I do not understand this correctly.

Thanks again - Paul |
This is an entirely different issue - NMEA consists of protocol sequences like GLL, GSA, GSV, RMC, VTG etc... Maybe your two receivers are programmed differently, and the Blue Logger does not deliver some of the more important sequences. You can control that with GPS utilities like Crux_View. As a bare minimum you should have RMC enabled, better yet you have the following setup
GGA every second
GSA every second
GSV every five seconds
RMC every second _________________ Lutz
