I am about to buy my first pocket gps system. I think I will go for this one
http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/viewprod.php?product_id=346
I am hoping to order this as soon as possible, however I was concerned that the bundle did not contain a vent mount. Can you receommed a good vent mount for my ipaq 3850 on a VW Passatt.
Thanks a lot, and I look forward to joining the pocket gps community shortly.
Thanks in advance. _________________ Take the shot. Go for it ..... |

Golfer, I have to say I don't like vent mounts, for me the best mount is a Brodit ProClip and they do a version for all the Passatt variants. See our review for details. They look like a manufacturer fitment and work brilliantly. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren - Thanks for the info. I will definately look at getting one of these. The only reason I thought of a vent mount was that I could get 2 relateively cheaply (I hope) which would enable me tp have both my Passatt and my wifes Galaxy 'enabled' for the ipaq.
I'm not greatly into theses things, but I removed a redundant mobile telephone from the Passatt by disconnecting from the wirinf coming from the battery (leaving a connecting jackin point behind). Is this fairly universal and something I could use for the mount?
Thanks for your help _________________ Take the shot. Go for it ..... |

It'd be fairly simple to wire a ProClip 12v power feed into the 12v feed left over from the cellphone car-kit, the easiest way would be to connect a cigarette lighter socket to the 12v feed that you have and plug the ProClip into this tucking all the wires behind the trim. _________________ Darren Griffin |
