Too Many Street Suggestions!

Does anyone else find that Tomtom tries to be too helpful when suggesting addresses? Let me explain with an example – I want to go to Dunstable Road, Ampthill. I put in “Ampthill”, and then put in “Dunstable Road”. However, despite the fact that there is only one Dunstable Road in Ampthill, Tomtom tries to help me by listing no fewer than 10 Dunstable Roads, most of them only differentiated by the postcode prefix. Some are the same actual road, just broken up into postcode-chunk sections, whereas others are other Dunstable Roads in the vicinity (and the difference between some of them is more than 20 miles). So unless I know the specific post code of my destination, I’m left to go through each one by trial and error, seeing which one looks to be in about the correct location on the map once the route is planned.

Am I the only one who finds this a major annoyance? And is there anyway of limiting the distance from the selected city within which Tomtom will offer suggestions.

I actually now use Tomtom mobile, but remember that this bugged me just as much on my Tomtom Navigator.

I had this annoyance (hence joining this forum) but found the answer in another thread.

What version of Navigator are you using? As I understand it correctly (please someone tell me if I am wrong) if it is 3.01 it is worth updating to 3.07 (Oct 04). I am not sure when it got 'fixed', but in the newest version it seems all matching roads are put in distance order from the selected town.

This of course does not help with the broken chunks of the same road problem but at least the 20 mile away roads should be last in the list
