Globalsat SD 501 GPS Tom Tom 3 freezes

The SD 501 works fine on the test programme. However after 5 mins with Tom Tom 3 it freezes and shows a frozen speed in the count down distance display location. No data is being transmitted from the GPS unit to Tom Tom 3 although the red light still flashes. When removed & replaced it will reset and work for another short while and then freeze again.
Its in use with an XDA2, Tom Tom V3.07 & GPS V3.07, I have also tried it with GPS V2.07 but it still gives the same problem.
My Tom Tom 3 works perfectly with Fortuna clipon blue tooth.
Any suggestions?
Is the SD 501 defective or is it a compatibility problem with Tom Tom 3?

Please don't triple post, your message will get answered if you post it once. I have removed your duplicate messages in other forums.

If TomTom freezes, I presume you can still exit TomTom ? If so, rather than ejecting the SD 501, try running up the test program at that point and see if it can see the SD GPS. If it can, then it's definitely a TomTom issue.

Which TomTom driver are you using ? I would personally go for NMEA 0183v2 (baud rate) that the SD 501 uses.
