Hi

I've just received my BC-307 and attached it to my H5450 and I can't seem to set it up to work with my tom tom 3 maps..... or even get a fix using GPS tuner or the GPS info package that comes with it.

I've setup stuff before but this has just beaten me!

on the tom tom GPS i've selected
NMEA 0183v2 4800 and CF_Card Generic (as there is no COM4)

but it can't get a fix

GPS Info is set at

COM 4: CF_Card Generic
4800

and again fails to get a fix?

as for GPS Tuner auto setup can' find it and it opens up my bluetooth console, so I setup COM 4 and 4800 and again no fix....

anyone know what i'm doing wrong

Russ

CF_CARD_GENERIC is usual in TomTom GPS for CompactFlash GPSes.

NMEA 0183v2 4800 should work fine - so if you have that in the top box, CF_CARD_GENERIC in the bottom box and put the tick back in the box to the left, what do you see in the first tab?

If you see scrolling dots, and a clock that's updating every second, even if it's wrong, you then need to leave the whole lot with an open view of the sky for 15 minutes.

If you don't see scrolling dots and a clock, then the first setting is possibly wrong.

A GPS receiver can take some time to start up when it's been moved a long way and the internal battery has possibly gone flat.

Acquiring a full almanac can take around 15 minutes - hence the suggestion to set up, check you've got communication (scrolling dots and a clock, even if it's wrong, in TomTom GPS) and just leave it with a clear view of the sky.

I'm glad your setup is working - and remember, the rest of the forums are there for questions, comments and learning from each other!

Best wishes,

David

I usually ckickstart the gps receiver with it's gpsinfo utillity put it on cold start and off it goes within a few minutes I get a lock. As soon as I get a lock usually within a few minutes I then close the gpsinfo app and start tomtom, the lock is then almost instantly. I find it very handy since I driver every day and I am usualy late for work so I don't have time to hang around for it to get a lock. Hope that helps
