Lat/Long in mapsonic

I have been using microsoft autoroute to look up postcodes with the idea of using the lat/long to find the place in mapsonic but I sometimes get a negative number that mapsonic doesn't recognise. Also the format seems different
Any ideas people??

I don't know much about much, but can hazard a couple of guesses.

I think Mapsonic uses decimal Lat/Lon, whereas Autoroute may give degrees, minutes and seconds (or vice versa). You can find tools to convert back/forth on the web.

Negative numbers are probably used to indicate E/W or N/S (ie positive Longtitude numbers are East, negative numers are West, or vice versa), not sure which way round this would be, but I would think a couple of experiments would clarify.
