It certainly seems like the price is heading in the right direction. Only problem is that the dealers do need to make some profit otherwise it does not become cost effective to sell the equipment. At which point they will all drop them like hot bricks.
It is nice seeing the GPS equipment has entered the mass market now with the main High Street retailers stocking TomTom and Navman devices. and Dixons advertising both during peak time viewing on TV.
We dont have any issues with links to genuine retailers. We do have problems when links are made to pirated software or other dubious items. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Still waiting for Currys to delivery or confirm that it has been dispatched some five days later. IMHO their online order system is eons away from the likes of Amazon, dabs and a lot of smaller retailers. Also, do they normally take this long to process things?

A word of warning about TTG's at discounted prices......
Some TTGs are advertised on places like ebay as "new in box" and offered at discounted prices.
I am aware that some of these TTG's are "sold and returned" or "B" grade (repaired) units that are effectively "second hand". Dealers purchase them from high street retailers and sell them on to unsuspecting members of the public who then discover that they have already been "messed with" or registered.
A price that is "too good to be true" normally is and especially when buying from on line auction sites :-( Don't be tempted unless you are certain the item is as described i.e NEW.
These sorts of scams are common around Christmas :-( |

I totally agree regarding price. I'm not aware of any reputable restailers though who maybe buying them up.
If a retailer receives a faulty product and is returned from a customer then it should be sent back to TomTom and replaced or repaired under warranty and then sent back to the original user. If the retailer has subsequently not followed this procedure and have given out a new unit then it should be marked as refurbished.
You will find some retailers who advertise on the right hand side also have ebay accounts and some do try to offload refurbished units on ebay.
At the end of the day, if the price seems too good to be true, then there's usually some interesting story behind it.
Where possible always buy from a reputable retailer in your country. For UK users purchase over the internet or via the phone and you have the 7 day cooling off period where you can receive a full refund providing you haven't opened any software. |

Thanks for the post David,
I agree that reputable retailers would not sell "B" grade goods these days. The "dealers" that I am referring to are what I used to call "catalogue returns dealers" who often attended the Amateur Radio Rallies and the like. These days many of these "dealers" sell via the internet as well.
A very well known high street retailer was investigated a few years ago for selling "used" computers as "new". That retailer was found to be guilty of several such offences so anything is possible. i have noticed that that particular retailer now puts special stickers on "sold & returned to stock" items.
With the TTG if the box seal is broken then do not buy it ! |

Thanks Brian. I ordered on the 5th and have received the two initial e-mails, but not the third one indicating dispatch.
Maybe they have run out of stock, as the website lists "Temporarily Out of Stock". However, you can't log into your account and check status a la dabs etc. and e-mails to customer services seem to solicit a standard response. I don't know whether it would be easier to just cancel and try elsewhere despite the discount...
