|
|
Hi
Just joined the site today after I had been having a good read for a couple of weeks before I bought some gear for sat nav in the car.
I have gone for a 2210 ipaq with a brodit speaker mount which has the fixed wiring so I see no cables on view.
The mount comes with a ps2 plug but the Sapphire rgm2000m has a non standard end.
All I need to know is which wire does what so I can wire a ps2 plug on to or just cut the ps2 plug off the mount and wire direct as the mount comes with a wiring diagram.
Hope somebody has the correct info so I can get up and running.
Thanks |

you should have four wires, red, black, green, white
red: Vpp (5V)
black: GND
the other two are RxD and TxD - you'll have to find out which is which - try both ways _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the reply
Will it damage the gps if the tx/ rx wires are connected wrong trying to find out which does what.
No problem with the 12v side but dont want to damage anything as it is bad enough having to cut the plug off in the first place.
Thanks |

No, swapping RxD and TxD does no harm. Try it one way,, see if data is coming in, and if not, swap it around. _________________ Lutz

Just chopped the end off. 4 as you said red black white and yellow so looks like no problems.
Will see If I can get it all up and running over the weekend.
Would it be best to install the gps software first and then the tom tom 3.
Thanks |

yes, you should only install a GPS test program, or at most the TomTom GPS driver 2.07. tTry to avoid any of the GPS drivers that bend the serial ports _________________ Lutz
