|

Hi;
Am I missing a trick, or have things just become very expensive.
TTG is advertising European maps at E149 each, (thats's E894) for whole of Europe on individual SD's.
You can buy the CDROMs of Europe for E140(Amazon), then purchase your own 512MB SD cards at E40 each, or move up to 1 GB cards for E80, and you can do it yourself for less than E350.
Can't help thinking somebody is making big profits. |

Why? They are just giving you options. Doesn't mean you have to buy them.
Somepeople don't have a PC (amazing as that might sound) or are not computer literate enough to deal with installing maps and software onto an SD card. So for them, individual country maps preloaded onto an SD card is just what they want.
Sure, they are expensive...but then you pay more for grated cheese too... |

Hi;
Get your point, but just informing people of the options, especially those who have access to computers.
I also doubt that people reading this forum do not have computers or access to them.
If you are slightly computer literate(or know somebody who is) for basically the price of the CDROM's and 512MB card, you can for under E200 get access to the whole of Europe maps, this is only 25% more than buying just one country on SD.
As you say, its pay your more and make your choice. |

Without wishing to turn every thread into a bellyache about upgrading maps, i should point out that I asked TomTom which versions of the maps would be supplied on the SD cards (there being much debate about map upgrades at present), and they have basically said that they are unable (?unwilling) to say this as it depends on "stock situations". Don't, therefore expect either the CD or the SD card to have the map version clearly labelled, and don't be surprised if you do not end up with the latest versions if you buy either the CD / SD card in the hope of getting a newer set of maps. |
