|

Hi there...
I have the Pocket Copilot Live 4.5 with the CoPilot GPS jacket.. attached to the jacket I have the GPS "puck" receiver .. for in the car.. more visibility.
For awhile this seemed to work great.. as I had "green" signal bars in some of the most obstructed situations...
Lately I cant get a "green bar" lock on a regular basis.. If I check the number of satellites detected, on average there only seems to be 1 or 2.. this will go on for miles as I'm driving.. with wide open sky.. then suddenly the average jumps to 5 or so and a "green" good lock occurs.
I've tried disabling the incoming beam option, I've tried turning off the bluetooth radio.. these dont seem to make a difference.. I think I've even tried manually setting the com port.. The unit is about 10 months old too..
Any thoughts would be great..
Thanks |

You should always set the COM port manually.
Maybe the MCX connector has worn out or is leaking otherwise? Do you have the same instability when you use the setup withou the "puck" (we call that an external active antenna) _________________ Lutz

Hi there.. thanks for the reply..
I verified a few things.. the port is set manually.. not automatic.. I've tried it both ways.. with or without the external antenae.. this lack of "visible" satellites occurs either way.. again an average of 2 or 3 at a given time, with occassional boosts to 5 or 6. |

Did you read about the fancy antistatic bag trick? _________________ Lutz

Yeah.. is that where you put something in between the copilot jacket and the ipaq... not sure if it will help my situation since I use the external one.. but I guess its worth a shot.. |

Bag trick made no difference, unfortunately.
Hard to believe both the jacket and the puck could have gone bad at same time. |
