Hi - I'm a newbie, please be nice! Have had my TTG a whole week - fab thing! My kids want me to download a voice that says "you missed it, you dingbat" if I ignore an instruction! But that's another story.

I have deleted unwanted voices off the 128MB SD card that came with the unit. I have downloaded safety cameras database and have it working well. Am very pleased with myself as am a bit of a technophobe! However, I am trying to free up some space on the card for some more POIs. There are a number of files on the card which are entitled "data01.chk", "data02.chk", ... through to "data24.chk". These are described as "recovered file fragments - pieces of files found when your disk was scanned" and are all "date created 14/09/04" with "date modified" in March and April 04. Each of them is between 600 and 900 mB. Do I need these? What are they? Can I safely delete them? Confused

All help greatly appreciated by my kids, who want the MacDonalds POI database!!

Many thanks

the CHK ending is reported by windows as lost file fragments, but that is only because TomTom foolishly selected the same extension. In fact those are the voice files, and you should be very careful with deleting them. You need to keep at least the one voice file you currently use.

To know which voice file you need to keep, you will need to open the VIF files with a text editor - one of them will have the title of your selected voice in it, and the reference to the appropriate dataxx.CHK.
