Ipaq 3970
Cf Jacket
Sysonchip CF
Tom Tom Nav 2
latest (I think) tom tom drivers from this site
When I check the number of sats using the Sysonchip viewer I get excellent lock on up to 9 sats, however, when I start tom tom (via checkpoint) I always get noticably fewer sats locked (5 instead of 9 for instance).
Any Ideas why?? |

out of curiosity - are you using the same protocol and speed with both applications? _________________ Lutz

Perhaps it can 'see' 9 sats, but only 5 of then are sufficiently viewable to get a proper signal from it, so in TomTom it only reports 5. |

If you use WinFast Navigator you may find that although you can see 9 sats only 5 are green and 4 are blue which means it can see 9 but is still acquiring data on the other 4 sats. |

Dave
Yes same protocol in both apps (Nema 0183v2 4800)
I can usually see up to 11 sats, with 8 0r 9 locked (Blue) the as I said earlier, it's always a lower number locked in Navigator.
The unit works well on the road, seems strange that one app can lock on better than another, maybe it's something to do with the Tom tom driver... |
