Use a USA gps in UK?

Hi, i want to buy a gps unit from america as they are much cheaper there. Can i use that reciver in the uk or are there going to be problems? please reply ASAP! thanks

GPS receivers work anywhere in the world, no matter where you buy them. What unit were you thinking of? I have a US spec Garmin GPS V. It has the US basemap which is of no use here, but I have Garmin's European maps which are much better than the Eurpoean basemap anyway.

The only caveat is that if it comes with a mains adapter then check that it is multi-voltage i.e. 110/220v compatible so you can use it over here. However most only come with 12v cigarette lighter adapters, very few come supplied with mains adapaters.
