Hi,

I have a new H5550 with Navman Smart ST 2 loaded. Both the Ipaq and navman software are upto date. I use this with the BT308 bluetooth GPS receiver.

1. My issue is ( not sure if this is a problem or just a pain I have to live with ) that when I am running the navigation the BT connection is dropped and when it trys to reconnect it asks me to tap on which device I want to connect to.
I though it shold remember the port / device and should reconnecty automatically.

2. Also when there is no fix it keeps disconnecting after every 2 minutes exactly. I have timed it and it keeps doing that.

I think that when a GPS application is started the PDA should automatically switch on the BT and connect. When the application is closed then it should automatically disconnect the port and switch off the BT.
And if it does disconnect in between then it should automatically reconnect without asking which device to renect to.

Does anyone else has similar issues? Can someone help and guide me.

Regards

1) see the "auto-connect" thread in the TomTom forum - you can set the default device in the registry

2) Bluetooth and GPS don't really have anything in common. It is not standard that opening a COM port would initialize the Bluetooth stack. You have to do that manually.

Thanks lbendlin,

I found a post which said about tweaking a registry entry
HKey_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Widcomm/BtConfig/AutoConnect

There should be some sub-keys there with numbers 0005, 0011, 0014 for example in my case, which are for the BT services.
Within there, there is a DWORD Value BtBrowserEnabled with a value of 0.

But I could not find the DWORD value as above. Not sure if it is asking me to add one?

Maybe I looked at the wrong post. If I have can you guide me to the right one?

Do you think something is wrong with the BT308 unit itself?

Regards

You are legend and the software you pointed me to.

Yes I no longer have an issue with BT manager popping up and asking me to connect.

The 1st hurdle crossed. But my problem still remains that it still does discnnect while navigating.

How do I get around that??

Regards

Might it be a faulty BT308? I also have an h5550 with ST Pro V2, and it behaves impeccably with my Navman 4410 GPS.

OK.

I thing I have noticed that it seldom disconnects once there is a fix but otherwise without the fix it disconnects after every 2 minutes.

But if I try the same with the GPS info software which comes with the BT308 then it does not disconnect that often. Hence it points me to the Navman software issue.

Thanks a lot for your help and I would hope someone might throw more light on the issue.
