Holux 270 GPS CF Questions and Problem

Hi I have a couple of questions in regards to the Holux 270 CF GPS

I purchased one a couple of weeks back but seem to be having problems..

1] takes ages to accquire a fix or pick up any satelites and when it does it only picks like 1-3 sattelites and not more... were as one of my work colleagues who had bought a different GPS his picks up at least 5 sattelites within minutes

By the way : am using a HP iPAQ 2210 and Tom Tom 3 and the settings are on NEMA0183 4800

So is there any configurations or settings i should do or know baout to increase the speed of fixing on satelites when i turn on my Ipaq and put in the GPS CF card?

2] What is this cold,warm,hot start stuff do I need to know about it or how to use it?

3] on the GPS Viewer provided by Holux it has 2 check boxes above the hot,warm,cold start buttons but not sure what they are or meant to do ? do I need to know about them?

4] About the battery life on the CF GPS does it effect the fixs on sattelites in any way?

5] How would I charge the battery do i just put it in the IpAQ and put it on the cradle? or do I need to open a viewer so that the light blinks on the CF card then put it on the cradle?

I do appologise about all theses questions.
