|
|
I'm lost without my medion 40600 GPS to get me out of here!....
The problem is I have smashed the screen.
Medion UK were very helpful but the screen is around £80 in P&P ...the sting is that for them to fit it adds around £100!! ouch
With the total cost being £160 it looks steep as you can get the full (and updated) kit for £269ish (Tchibo).
My question is do I duy the screen on its own and fit it myself?
Is it easy or not?
has anyone done this?
Smashed screens are a common occurance according to Medion.
Hope some one can give me some guide on this
Thanks

You have to be pretty experienced to retrofit it yourself. You may end up paying more than their repair would cost. Maybe other companies can offer a similiar repair at a better price, but I would definitely leave it up to the Pro's _________________ Lutz

Thanks lbendlin
Just a thought.....
Could I pick up Pocket PC (Medion/Mitac etc..) that would be compatable and load on the software supplied with the Medion.
This could be a cheaper soloution if it was possible, as I have now discovered that i need to pay a big excess and will loose my NCD on the Insurance policy............you wonder why you bother really!
Has anyone got any advise if this soloution would work/ Any idea what kit to buy/from where?

Some of the software may be in ROM (Medion specific) but most of it should be easily transferable to other Pocket PCs. Look for CAB files on the companion CD - those can be copied to another Pocket PC and executed there to install applications _________________ Lutz

Had a similar problem - tried loading on a HP - didn't work and then on the Medion PDA available on the UK website (MD5951) - that didn't work either, despite initial advice from Medion that it would. Problem is that (as Ibendlin says) some of the software is on the PDA ROM. Seem to remember that the total repair cost was £100 including the screen replacement. |
