Hi,

I am trying to connect my TTGo 760t to my new Sony MEX-BT3600u but the TT does not pick it up when searching. I have both units in search mode but still nothing is picked up.

Any suggestions

Thanks in advance

The HiFi using Bluetooth is troublesome to say the very least with the TT range, I use an LG deck which does work, there are some workarounds available if you want to try them on the device - but please assure us you have a backup of the device BEFORE we go down that route, also what device have you got, I am not aware of the x60 range (as yet) - Mike

Have a read through This Thread where there is quite a discussion about the A2DP issue, the link to the fix (which Andy confirmed worked, on a number of devices including some Sony units) is on the second page in the sixth of AndyVaughan's posts on that page - let us know how you get on, but please take a full backup before messing around doing this sort of stuff - Mike

Mike,

Sorry to hassle you again, but can you just confirm that when the guy who has a fix for this issue says extract the files & put then in the Root directory, is that just the main folder in the TT or in some other folder.

Thanks

All you have to do is connect up your TomTom to the PC with it switched on and use Windows Explorer to locate which drive letter is associated with the device, then unzip/ exract the download to the drive letter of your TomTom.
The root derectory is the highest level you can see on the device, it is found by clicking the drive letter. The fix will put a couple of new folders on the device and a couple of files, if version 1,1 doesn't find your stereo try again using version 1,0 - Mike

Thanks again for the help Mike,

I can confirm that after loading the fix 1.1 my unit connected to my Sony MEX-BT3600U.

All works OK & as it should but why TT can't fix this just confuses me.

Glad to hear that sorted you out, what do you think of the sound, the quality I find is great but the volume needs cranking up quite a bit compared to the level I use for radio and CD, gives you a real wake up call if you de-power the TomTom!

Also you now get the option to send the audio for the Nav voice out through the device speaker and the music through the BT, doing this allows you to choose "Do Not pause music while issuing navigation command" which I find great as I don't always want the music stop/ starting - Mike

Yes I find the volume too low & if I switch over to my Sony radio it almost makes my ears bleed Smile if I forget to turn the stereo volume down.

As far as the quality goes it's 10 times better than the FM music transfer. I really don't understand why TT can't sort this problem out or is it a simple case that the guy who wrote this fix software understands this system much better than TT themselves ?.

From memory it seems that the TT requires certain profiles to be advertised by the device it is connecting to, which very few devices conform with. I have a JVC KD-AVX44 which works fine without the fix. This head unit also has the option of adjusting the gain on different input sources so my ears don't bleed when switching back to CD or Radio!

Andy,

Just found the gain control for the different inputs on my Sony unit & thanks to you for mentioning it I no longer have bleeding ears.

I must have missed that bit in the manual Mad

Sounds daft but I am always amazed with how these things work.

Thanks all

Oh ye of little faith! Stop it! It's quite simple really. The TT has a Chinese spider (since they relocated the manufacturing plant) and your radio has either the same type of spider (in which case they link up without hesitation), or a different nationality spider (in which case you need to download the instant translator, fix 1.1 or 1.0). It was even simpler, of course, when they used mice, which, as we all know, are all descended from a single set of parents in a fiendish laboratory under that big mountain way over there and have no communication problems.
