Also works perfect on the Nokia N80 & N73 Mobile phone.
Must remember ellio7's tip that you have to re set each gategary re warn when near otherwise you just get 3 warning beeps
Tom Tom have really come up with the goods on their latest version.
And many thanks to pocketgps for the camera database and tips, plus many thanks to Rays Tom Tom site for Liz's voice warnings

Yes, it seems the TTS warnings are stored at the end of the MapSettings.cfg file. Unfortunately the formatting is a bit weird, so I'm not too sure how it refers to the poi file (yet) |

I've downloaded the data.chk file for Liza and it is good!
I now am getting ready with the .ogg files and note the comments about re-naming them to the Pocketgps_uk_ ov2 and bmp files.
Most is self explanatory but which of the ov2 files refers to the simple gatso, mobile or specs (with no stated limits). For gatso there are ...._gatso_tba and ..._gatso_var. I assume it is ...gatso_tba - but am I right?
If I am then I assume that it will be ...mobile_tba and ...specs_tba.
Please confirm or correct me[b] _________________ Furry Fred

The .ogg file name must match the .bmp and .ov2 file - I will post a full list later.
For the record though this even works on TomTom Navigator version 5 - Just checked it out on my main PDA and its great! - I hate to think how much time was expended with all the extra files and programs that were created to get around what was a simple fix!

for both var and tba you will use the gatso warning, just use the same file for both but give it 2 different names,ie pocketgps_uk_gatso_tba.ogg and pocketgps_uk_gatso_var.ogg.
It may seem easier to just knock off the pocketgps_uk off the camera file instead of adding pocketgps_uk etc to the ogg files but it'll make it hard work when you have to update the cameras next month _________________ Paul

Thanks. Done it - now to try it!
I have alterered the .ogg file name as these may well be more longer lasting than when I upgrade my ov2 and bmp files every month and would have to do it to all them every time I downloaded.
Can someone recommend me a programme that will make an .ogg file for say a .wav so I can try putting one in for Witherspoons! _________________ Furry Fred

This will depend upon the camera download you are currently running, so I have listed three sets of file names for the ogg sound files:
For those using the Single file download:
pocketgps_uk_sc.ogg
For those using the consolodated by type file download:
pocketgps_uk_gatso.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile.ogg
pocketgps_uk_redlight.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs.ogg
pocketgps_uk_temp.ogg
For those using the Speed Zoned file type download:
pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_50.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_60.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_70.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_tba.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_var.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_20.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_30.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_40.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_50.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_60.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_70.ogg
pocketgps_uk_moblie_tba.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_20.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_30.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_40.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_50.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_60.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_70.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_tba.ogg
pocketgps_uk_redlight.ogg
pocketgps_uk_temp.ogg
Use the above as a tick list to compile your file list, most of the above are available already, only the mobile 20 and gatso 20 require creation for a full set.

search for oggenc - it's the original one. There will probably also be fancy UIs around it but hey who need that :D _________________ Lutz

Try this (shareware)
4Musics WAV to OGG Converter v2.1
Convert WAV to OGG in one click!
The beauty of using 4Musics WAV to OGG Converter is that it works from the right click menu on a file. You do not have to invoke a whole other program to convert WAV to OGG.
Simply right click on the WAV, select "Convert to OGG"! As easy as 1, 2, 3!
What is a WAV? This is an extension for Wave Form Audio File Format. WAV files are huge data files that take great amount of disk space. That is why you need to convert these huge WAV files to OGGs and therefore you need 4Musics WAV to OGG Converter.
You can use this full-functional program without any limitations during 15-day trial period absolutely free.
What's benefit after registering:
* you can use the program without any limited time;
* full individual support : you receive answers to all your questions about this program;
* delays between files during converting are totally removed;
* your purchase will help us to develop the program in future.

Tried it, very easy to use.
Also, while I am on a roll, try this site to create digitised voice files (text to speech)
http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php#top
I made some for Tesco and Morrison supermarkets and it sounds ok.
Just type in what you want the POI sound to say.

As a footnote to the above post, just tried putting the (correctly) named ogg files in on my phone:
Details are:
Imate SP3 Windows Smartphone.
TT Mobile 5 v5.200 (4450)
Put the original data.chk file back in.
DOES NOT WORK on this setup, can only select the original sounds.

Just one other thought, for TTM the sample frequency of the .ogg files should be 16000Hz - I doubt it is this that is giving you the problem though - Mike |
