We do not condone illegal software of any sort, whether pirated, copied or bought for 50p on eBay. We will not assist with pleas for assistance when your GO is crippled by such software nor do we permit posts asking for cracks or other 'tricks' to get such software installed.
Any such posts will be removed and offenders risk having their accounts suspended. _________________ Darren Griffin

I've just bought a "new" tomtom 510 off ebay. How do I tell if the software is original?
I'm new to PGPS and satnav, so be gentle with me. PLEASE.

The software itself isn't really an issue, as it is traditionally supplied free by TomTom. The data (map, postcode, etc.) is a different matter. When you bought the device, did you get a credit card sized Product Code with it, for instance? Is the SD card a genuine TomTom one? Did it come in the box with all the bits? _________________ Tim |

Thanks Tim.
There is a product code. The SD card had been opened by the seller to check it. Thing is, I've had the 510 working, but now it's frozen on the splash screen. I've tried the reset but it hasn't worked.
The SD card hasn't a label on it, so I was wondering if it might have something to do with the problem.
I only bought it last week so I'm not to happy. |

I think you need to warn people about backing up their system before suggesting re-formatting anything!
Their maps, personal settings, text to speech voices (on a 910) and any extras they've installed from TomTom Plus or elsewhere will be permanently deleted if they do as suggested, and there are no backups supplied by TomTom in the box. |
