Wayfinder signs a deal for Maps of India

pocketgpsworld.com Wayfinder were the first company (if I remember correctly) to offer offboard (server based) navigation solutions. This means that the maps are held centrally on a server and accessed over the wireless network.

One advantage of this setup is that you are guaranteed to have access to the very latest mapping data, and also have the power of server computers to do the routing calculations. Another advantage is that new applications, services, and in this case map areas are very easy to integrate into the system, without the need to download and install new data into your navigation system.

Wayfinder have signed an exclusive deal with MapMyIndia to allow travelers, and more importantly residents of India to have access to the power of SatNav.
