TomTom ONE TomTom have today announced the launch of TomTom ONE, an all new portable navigation unit that runs TomTom Navigator. Todays launch is for the Benelux and Germany market spaces with a UK launch to follow in November.

The important features to note in the TomTom ONE's specification are the SiRFStarIII chipset and the apparent lack of any interface connections to the cradle. This means items like power and external antenna would need to be connected manually direct to the unit although SiRFStarIII will greatly reduce the situations where an external antenna is required..

However with a launch price of Euro 399 (Approx £270.00) this makes the TomTom ONE a very attractive proposition as in all other respects it is identical to the other models in the TomTom GO range and with a better chipset.

Specifications:
  • CPU: 380 MHz
  • 3.5 inch, 320 x 240 full colour TFT touch screen
  • Weight: 260 gram
  • 32 MB RAM
  • Bluetooth data connectivity for PLUS services
  • USB to connect to a PC for updates
  • Internal rechargeable Lithium Ion battery (up to 2 hours)
  • Integrated GPS receiver based on SiRF Star III with 20 Channel All-in-view tracking
  • Operating temperature: -10 to +55 degrees C

  • I have added a few more images to the news thread. Despite rumour the ONE does not come with MP3 playback functionality and it can be used away from the car with its rechargeable internal battery.
