China Will Complete Their BeiDou GPS System in 2020

China has announced that their BeiDou-3 GPS system will be completed by the end of 2020. A total of 35 satellites will provide global coverage and aims to reduce reliance on the American GPS system should any further disputes arise. The Chinese BeiDou system, named after the Chinese name for the "Big Dipper" constellation, has been serving China since 2011 and Asia-Pacific since 2012.
