Jaguar's Sensory Steering Wheel Reduces Distraction
Date: Friday, May 31 @ 03:30:43 UTC Topic:
Jaguar Land Rover boffins have developed a steering wheel that uses heat to direct drivers left or right.
Developed in partnership with Glasgow University, the 'sensory steering wheel' can be quickly heated and cooled to tell drivers which way to turn or change lane with the aim of both reducing driver distraction and providing aid when exterior visibility is reduced.
The technology is also being employed on gear-shift paddles as an indication when hand over to/from the vehicle during autonomous driving takes place.
