China Is One-Step Closer to Global Navigation Coverage Date: Thursday, September 20 @ 15:26:32 UTC Topic: China has launched another pair of satellites for it's BeiDou-3 GPS system with a view to having 18 BeiDou-3 satellites in place by the end of the year. The Chinese BeiDou system, named after the Chines name for the "Big Dipper" constellation, has been serving China since 2012 and Asia-Pacific since 2012.
