The India Space Research Organisation (ISNRO) successfully launched their IRNSS-1I navigation satellite yesterday.

Launching from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh atop the PSLV-C41 launch vehicle, IRNSS-1I is the eighth satellite in the IRNSS program. This launch marked the 43rd flight of the PSLV-C41. After a flight lasting 19 mins the 1425kg satellite reached its sub-geosynchronous orbit and separated from the PSLV.

IRNSS-1I is now the latest member of the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), an independent regional navigation satellite system designed to provide position information in and around the Indian mainland.
