According to a report from Motortrend, Porsche have chosen Apple's CarPlay over Google's Android Auto because of privacy concerns. Whilst Apple need to know simply that a vehicle is moving, Google demand a raft of information including speed, throttle position, coolant and oil temp, engine revs and more.

Porsche decided they could not agree to Googles requirements. Whilst much of this data would cause little concern I'm not sure any of us would choose to tell Google our vehicle speed?

These requirements don't seem to have out off other manufacturers with along list of OEMs jumping on board including Audi and VW. I wonder if VW will be reporting their actual data or will they employ a Google Defeat device?
