TomTom has announced that its agreement with Apple for the supply of map data and related information has been renewed.

Apple chose TomTom to replace Google and supply map data back in 2012 and it has been working hard to improve the service with acquisitions of companies that can aid this such as Coherent Navigation, revealed earlier this week.

Whilst TomTom's announcement gives zero detail, according to Reuters analysts said the deal is likely to be skewed in Apple's favour as the prestige of working with Apple will benefit TomTom.

That may well be true as TomTom shares jumped 7 percent following the announcement.
