With delays continuing in the rollout of Europe's Galileo satnav network, the European Commission has weighed in.

Blaming the European Space Agency and prime contractor OHB, European Commission Vice President Antonio Tajani has warned that financial penalties will be imposed.

The next two satellites in the Galileo constellation are currently one year behind schedule, they are currently undergoing testing and may be ready for launch in June 2014.

Tajani has also defended the selection of german company, OHB, as the prime contractor despite them now asking Thales Alenia Space for assistance. OHB have requested they send some space engineers to Bremen to assist them.

OHB had previously been appointed prime contractor over a consortium including Astrium and Thales Alenia Space.
