If you're planning on a visit to one of a number of European cities then a new City Guide smartphone app may be what you need.
Farol is a business start-up that was supported by the ESA. Their City Guides app, available on Android (with iOS to follow), creates customised sightseeing itineraries, with detailed off-line maps (no roaming charges) and interactive content.
A trip adviser allows you to explore at your own pace providing detailed information and details on restaurants, cafes, museums and a wealth of historical information.
The app is currently in beta and is a free download with content for Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Helsinki, London, Oporto, Paris, Rome and Warsaw.
