News: Britain should shelve plans for new GPS system

A satellite expert has warned the Government that it should drop plans for a full-blown British satmap system as the proposals were based entirely on national pride.

The system that would rival the EU's Galileo navigation network could instead piggyback on Skynet 6, a MOD defence program, thus saving the tax-payers billions says Dr Stuart Eves, a satellite systems engineer whose has worked at Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd, Astrium and the Ministry of Defence.
