News: Speed Cameras Off, Speed Cameras On

Somerset's fixed speed cameras will all be switched off from today, but Oxfordshire's speed cameras are to be switched on again from tomorrow.

Somerset County Council have rejected the application from local police to take over the cost of running the cameras and Oxfordshire's Thames Valley Police will be switching theirs on again (originally switched off in August 2010 because of the Government's budget cuts) after an increase in deaths and serious injuries in the area.

The correlation between the accidents and the lack of cameras is of course open to debate.
