PLEASE READ! - Pocket GPS Server Relocation, what you need to do!
We have just completed the move to our new server, which has meant extensive back end (behind the scenes) website re-coding, and a new forum. Please click READ MORE for changes and what you will need to do!
What's the speed of the new server like ? Vote now!
We have just relocated the website to a new server and new ISP. If you are seeing this message you are seeing the new server. To do this we have had to change the underlying server Operating System which has meant extensive re-coding of the website.
Due to this we couldn't keep the original forums (WebWiz) but have moved all users and posts to a new forum (phpBB).
Please read the following carefully!
Forums
A complete backup of the forums was taken on Saturday, as we had to take a cut off point, which has meant that any posts since then or any new user registration will have not been ported over to the new server. We apologise for this, but there was no easy way around this.
Username/Password
We have had to re-enter each username and password manually, and these were taken from a week ago, so when you log in, if you changed your password since then, use your old password.
Forgotten Passwords
If when signing up for your account, you did as we had asked and entered a valid email address, click the Lost Password option when signing into the forum, enter your nickname/username (do not enter confirmation code) and your password will be emailed to you. If you didn't enter your email address, and have forgotten your password, you will need to sign up with a new account name.
New Features
We've added a complete content management system which makes it easier for us to update the website with. This means that you can submit your own news direct to the website, and the same goes with website links and downloads. They won't appear immediately as they go through a moderation process, but please use these options from now on. You will find a submit news section on the top left hand menu now, and submitting downloads and website links can be done through the options also on the left hand menu within downloads and website links.
Site Speed
Server and forum speed has been quite slow recently, moving to the new server and changing forums we hope will now overcome this, and gives us a much better upgrade path for the future when we need to expand Pocket GPS.
Bookmarked Webpages
If you have bookmarked either individual pages or forum pages within Pocket GPS, these may not work initially, but we're working on this. We apologise for this, but to support the move we had to change all page names to a new extension.
Forum posts lost
Unfortunately we had to take a cut off point on the forums, which has meant that some of the newer threads and posts have been lost. This was unavoidable, we could have shut the forums down for a week, but thought this was going to create more of a disturbance, so if you were waiting for an urgent answer to your question, please feel free to re-post in the new forum.
