Hi
When transferring camera updates and voice pack to Garmin am told the files transferred ok but there is also a warning saying:
''unable to convert WAV files to the proper format therefor the audio files not transferred''
Any ideas would be appreciated
Thanks

Yep. Common problem (shoolboy error?). You need sox.exe in the same folder as the POILoader files. Download from my dropbox HERE and unzip it before copying to POILoader folder (usually at C:\Program files (x86)\Garmin\POILoader) |

Hi
Thanks for reply.
Puzzled.
Have been downloading speed cams for many years without a concern.
Have just checked my download files and the sox exe is there dated 2008.
Just downloaded it again from your link and receive the same warning message when downloading the camera files.
When I check the folder selected to contain the camera files it contains the wave files and when I click on them the audio warning is heard
Still puzzled
Thanks
Geoff

But is it in the correct folder that I pointed to in my previous post?
There is no point in just downloading it and leaving it in your downloads folder as you have implied.
It MUST go in C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\POILoader
This folder has about 30 files in it and is about 17.5MB in size and contains the file POILoader.exe |

Hi
I modified my post prior to your reply.
I have done no different to what I have for a number of years.
The sox file was downloaded in 2008 and shows in my download files
Each week I download the camera update. Send it to my designated folder. Select that folder within the POI downloader and copy it to the Garmin device with no problem.

This is hard work.
Is there a copy of sox.exe in your C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\POILoader folder? Not in your downloads folder or anywhere else on your computer, but in your POILoader folder.
If it is not there, you get exactly the error message that you are getting. |

Hi
I have deleted the POI Downloader.
Reinstalled it and added the SOX file.
I must have done this years ago as I would have had problems before. Why something has gone wrong after all this time is a mystery
Anyway there is no longer a problem
Thanks |

Garmin changed where POIloader is installed to within the last year. If you've reinstalled it then SOX will be missing.
I cant remember the exact change but I 'think' they changed the POI location from \Garmin\POI Loader\ to \Garmin\POILoader\ they removed the space.
That caught the Converter out so I'm now checking both locations. _________________ DashCam:
