Certainly does not work on SGS 10+ running Android Version 10. Surprised that it is taking so long to come up with an update to the App.

It's a Samsung-specific issue. It's not a simple, straightforward thing to troubleshoot.

The app works fine on non-Samsung Android 10.

Samsung need to help then - or their phones too will join in the bad rep. Incompatibility with the Android ecosystem is not good.

The underlying message from Android is that this app (CA) was designed for an older version of Android so Samsung may be using a different algorithm or are being more strict.

I'm still not convinced that it's Samsung's new UI 2 that may be the culprit.

We've had issues with Samsung devices previously. From memory they changed the way location data was handled and it needed some specific code adding/changing in order to work on Samsung's version of Android. Other devices did not need the change implying it was a Samsung-specific issue.

The app works on other non-Samsung devices running Android 10 implying it's not an Android 10 issue but a specific thing that Samsung have done.

Samsung have recently come under fire for changing core Android files and making them vulnerable to security issues. They clearly make a lot of changes to Android that fairly wide-reaching affects.

A simple Google search shows that Samsung has around 40% of the Android market (and around 20% of the mobile market overall). No other manufacturer has more than 13% of the Android market.

Whatever debate there may be about the accuracy of the numbers, and treating them as a general guide only, they do suggest *strongly* that to fail/avoid/delay to update CA to work with Samsung handsets cuts that app out from a very significant share of its potential market.

I therefore endorse Kremmen's comment about the delay, both in the provision of information and, most importantly, of a fix.

Hi, hope everyone is ok.

Just got Android 10 (EMUI) on my Huawei test device (P Smart 2019).
CA works there.

Yes, it looks like Samsungs version of Android 10/UI2 on the S10 devices only.

At the moment I'm not too fussed because your STA is doing almost the same job for me.

If only STA would broadcast overspeed over bluetooth.

I'd say OneUi 2.0, not only S. It also fails on upgraded A30/50/70. Don't know about A31/51/71, there is already OneUi 2.1

Not just the S10, also no longer works on Note 9 since Android 10.

I mentioned UI 2.0 some months ago as the possible culprit as older and newer Samsung devices don't use 2.0

The newer S20 has UI 2.1 and CA apparently works OK, but, there was one post from a Samsung S10 owner with the newer 2.1 who said it's still failing.

The older devices still on Android 9 use UI 1.1 and they are OK.

My unlocked S10 is still on 2.0

Edit:

I've just checked for any updates and firmware G97xFXXU4CTC9 (in my case the x is a 3), dated 1st April, is downloading now. This update apparently contains UI 2.1 ........

Nope

UI 2.1 now installed, phone rebooted a number of times between each test stage, CA uninstalled and reinstalled, still the same error as per the original crash log.

That's me done, over to the Android developers as the install error message is still saying that this app is designed for an older OS and may not work, which it doesn't on the S10 range.

Has there been any progress on this, my Samsung A10 got updated to Android 10 the other day and now this (and other) apps are failing. Reminds me why my reluctance to upgrade isn't unhealthy.

I've looked at Speed Trap Alert, but prefer the auto update and subscription on the Camera Alert app.

As I can't go back to Android 9, it may also be the incentive to go to lineagos.

The current backup plan is to leave an older phone in the car, unfortunately that doesn't work the alerts into the car's audio system.

My Huawei P20 Pro recently updated to EMUI 10 and had to reregister as lost its settings. App still works though

for other having the issues saying for an older version of android, just ignore it, it works on later versions, just ensure you go into permissions and configure them and you must also ensure BT is active and not switched off

Not strictly true, it doesn't work on many Android 10 devices, it has nothing to do with permissions.
