Following a long campaign, new speed cameras are likely to be installed on the A52 near Nottingham.

Highways England are set to install the average speed cameras to monitor a 40 mph stretch of road from Bramcote Island to Priory Roundabout.

Subject to financial agreement, six point-to-point cameras will be installed early next year.

Local MP Anna Soubry backed a 1,600 name petition by Tony Smith who started his campaign in 2016 following a number of serious crashes on the road.

Ms Soubry said: "After a long campaign, I am pleased that we have been successful. Speeding has been a problem for residents for a long time, particularly at night, and has resulted in a number of serious accidents. These measures will also be a fitting tribute to Tony Smith who sadly died last year."

She added: "Tony was a great friend and he would have been delighted that his hard fought campaign has been a success."

If this road has a history of serious accidents why did it need a campaign ?

Any chance of having Cameralert show average speed driven, in average speed zones?

It does already.
And if you tap the speed readout, it will give your average speed anywhere. (Android, but suspect iOS does as well. RTFM)

RTFM? Easier said than done. The link to the manual yields a blank page:
http://www.cameralert.com/manual/ios
As does the FAQ link:
http://www.cameralert.com/faqs/
The only reference I can find is under 'How it works':
http://www.cameralert.com/how-it-works/

I'll watch the screen more closely, next time I'm in an average speed zone.

Spot on. The RTFM technique does not work if there is no FM to R. Rolling Eyes
When you enter a SPECS zone, another speed indication pops up immediately to the right of the normal speed readout. This gives you your average speed since you passed the camera. The average speed readout is reset every time you pass a new camera.
You can invoke an average speed calculation at any time, regardless of the presence/absence of a camera by tapping the main speed readout. The average speed calc box will pop up and read out your average speed since you tapped it.

Ah, that's what it is.

When I was playing, trying to get the 3 digits to show, I tapped the speed readout and another popped up.

That's really helpful. Thank you.

I knew there is a FM to R, because I R-ed it years ago and it persuaded me to buy an iThing to run it on!

Maybe MaFt HAS been sneaky.
