I recently used Basecamp for the first time to view my trip history from a Garmin 2859. I seem to have found what I need but would like some help from those who use Basecamp.

In trip history it seems that every stop where the Garmin is turned off (standby) will start a new time line. These time sections are broken down into what seem to be random legs which I cannot link to anything so how are they generated?
The details for each leg includes position but all that shows is a partial entry of just the first half e.g. N49.03. How do I find the full position?

The frequency of trackpoints depends on how quickly your speed and direction are changing. If you go in a straight line, then few trackpoints need to be generated to produce an accurate record. But on a twisty road you'll find more trackpoints generated in order to follow the turns.

To see the full position in Basecamp, you probably need to drag the RH boundary of the Position column header to the right, to provide enough column width to diplay the full lat / lon reference.

Apologies for overlooking your reply.

Thanks for the explanation I understand now how the legs are generated.

You are correct that dragging the position column heading to the right shows the full coordinates.
