Until I upgraded the software and maps recently in the Ford Sync 3 system, CamerAlert used to interrupt the audio (eg radio) and make (prompt) announcements over the car speakers on both Android Auto and the inbuilt SatNav system.

Since the car system update CamerAlert will only give announcements over the car SatNav system when the audio input source is set to the phones bluetooth meaning no other audio (other than phone) can be used. It still announces over the car speakers with radio or any other audio input when Android Auto and Google Maps Nav are used as long as the Android Auto is started first. The phone is connected via both bluetooth and USB. This has happened on both Samsung S6 and S7 phones which are used with the car.

Does anyone have any idea why it will no longer interrupt the car nav system (as a prompt) and now only as an audio input?

Maybe change the audio routing in CamerAlert to use BT Headset?

Interesting that, on changing the CamAlert audio output to BT Headset the inbuilt SatNav now sees the incoming Cameralert announcement as a phone call and switches to the car handsfree phone screen for the duration of the announcement.

Android Auto still works OK.

When Camalert audio output is set to default, the phones media volume control flashes.

I've got my 'Civic to Android' set to BT and it works as a phone call, just as you say. Works perfectly for me as it mutes the audio, issues the warning, tben returns the audio.
