Australian authorities are falling out over whether there should be warning signs to alert drivers about upcoming mobile cameras.

A report released by the New South Wales Auditor-General says that there should be no speed camera ahead signs. She states that covert and unconcealed mobile speed cameras are catching more speeding drivers and therefore increasing the level of road safety.

She added: "The use of multiple warning signs provides drivers with general reassurance that they will receive an obvious warning to slow down before potentially being caught speeding. This limits the opportunity to moderate driver behaviour through causing drivers to be worried they could be caught anywhere, anytime."

However, a spokesperson for the office of the New South Wales Roads Minister countered: "It is not going to happen. It is not our policy. We are not going to start pulling down signs like they do in Victoria." Victoria neighbours New South Wales.

That's rubbish, if the point of cameras is safety, then a sign slowing people down will enhance safety. If the point of cameras is revenue generation, then don't put up signs!!

Just like the French.

Ban all safety camera location warnings and reap the benefits.
