Hi I have a newbie questions so sorry in advance. I have a nvidia shield tablet which I would like to use as a satnav. Can I use google maps and the speedcam database together?. I have a 4g sim I can use in it for data. Will the speed cams show up on the google map or do I need another app to run at the same time?. I have been a subscriber for a number of years and my TomTom go720 is on its way out. Tia

Hi, and welcome to the world of Pocket GPS.

You cannot get the PGPSW database cams to 'show up' on Google maps.

The best you can do is to run your preferred nav program in the foreground and run the excellent CamerAlert (CA) for the camera warnings in the background.

You can display the cameras on CA's map, but you can't us the CA map for navigation.

Running CA in either the background or foreground with no CA maps, it uses no phone data other than when you update the database.

When run it in the foreground with the map on, it uses phone data to download the various map 'tiles' as required.

You can download the app and get an initial copy of the latest database to try out, but then have to subscribe to get the weekly updates.

Thank for your info. I have installed cameralist on the shield but it just crashes. There was a message on Google play store saying that the app may not be Optimised for this device. Frustrating...

I assume that "cameralist" is a typo for "CamerAlert"?
Either way, afraid I can't help if you have tried it and it won't run.
