Yes. Just leave it connected as the battery is possibly very flat.

If it is the same problem that occasionally afflicts my 3598 after updating maps, POIs or speed cameras, then press and hold the on button until the unit tries to start, then release - only about 5 seconds. Repeat as necessary - on my unit this can generally be up to 20 attempts. It this is not the same problem as yours, then sorry I can't help. If something does eventually work for you, please let us know how you did it.

Many thanks guys. Panic over. After 3 hrs plugged in, it came to life. Not sure why the battery got so flat though. It is now updating to latest map. At least I won't panic so much if it happens again.
Best regards,

PS. I long pressed the power button till it asked me if I want to turn off. Didn't realize it was the correct way to do it Very Happy .

Just spotted this post.

My 2699 is the same after a map update but the 2599 is OK. Must find the charge lead.

Now up to 10% after half an hour.

Super easy to replace the battery on these devices. Also replacement batteries go for like $10 on eBay etc.

Just youtube some videos and grab an old credit card and small screw driver and you're set. Ive seen some battery replacements come with cheap one time use tools.

Goodluck!

Pretty common on garmins with daily use. The connector gets weak and can only hold a charge when you have the cable tugging in a specific orientation.

You could theoretically put it into an oven once disassembled to let the solder reflow into the connectors.
Just make sure the battery and LCD are all removed and its just the board going into the oven.

I've read about this connector problem but I reckon that's down to mishandling. Falling off the screen and being saved by the cable possibly.

I've had quite a few Garmins plugged unplugged twice daily and never had an issue.
