Just got a GO520 which is taking a bit of getting used to. Not a simple as my Via 135. The big advantage of the Via was that it mounted in an absolutely perfect position with an Air Vent Mount.
The Go520 will also mount on the air vent but in its best position it is upsidedown. This wasn't a problem with the Via as the screen image always stayed right side up but this is not the case with the 520. Can the image on the 520 be turned over, or set to always orientate itself correctly?

Are you referring to the 520 (WiFi) that comes with the magnetic mount? If so, the part of the mount that holds the device does rotate. It's stiff but a little shot of WD-40 loosens up the ball/

However, if you mean using the device without the mount, then I agree the screen does not seem to auto-rotate. At least, mine doesn't.

If it doesn't auto rotate or can't be rotated that's a pity. It means I can't mount it in the perfect position that my Via 135 does.

Having thought about this: if it really is the case that the image can't be turned over, it is very disappointing that I have shelled out a lot of money for what I thought was an improved version of my old Go 520 which has gained some bells but lost some whistles. Having said that I am probably doing TomTom an injustice as I just checked my old Go520 and that doesn't turnover either. So I will probably revert to my Via 135. Embarassed Rolling Eyes

The function disappeared in v7 of the software. As far as TomTom is concerned, the menu option isn't required.

Mounts can be fitted in two orientations, keeping the TT the right way up.

Take it back as not fit for your purpose. None of the new TTs are 'as good' as the older ones.

Bought it direct from TT. I don't fancy my chances of getting my money back. Looks like Ebay is my best bet

If you bought it online then under the "Distance Selling Regulations" you have 14 days to return it, no questions asked, you don't even have to offer a reason. You may have to pay any postage costs though.

Decided to return it and found that to be impossible. CS only work 5 days.
Instructions on how to return it tell you to send details but doesn't say where to.
Unless you send the details you can't get an RMA number (which is vital) or where to send it to. Clearly, TT don't want you to return things and make it as difficult as possible.
It's "Catch 22"
I go on holiday on Monday so that doesn't help.

Email them explaining what you want to do and why. Also explain that you'll be away. You should still then be able to return it when you're back.

You have to tell them within 14 days then have another 14 days to actually return it.

I would be happy to email them if I had an address to send it to but I can't find one. I have a web Page that lists all the information you have to send them to get an RMA number but doesn't tell you where to send it.
I'm only away for a week so I should be ok to sort it on my return.

You can send a message via this page of the website. There's no option for Returns but maybe use Orders and Shopping? At least you will have advised them that you want to cancel the order in good time and hopefully they will respond before you get back from your holiday.

Thanks Anita that was very helpful. There actually was an option for returns which made much more sense than the info I had before.
I have emailed all my details to them and explained that I am on holiday until 1/8.
