After almost three years on the table, Gibraltar has launched its first ever fixed speed cameras.
The British Overseas Territory has introduced digital speed cameras to three locations under a pilot scheme. If the initial tests are successful, it's likely they will add more cameras.
The general speed limit for cars and motorbikes is 50 KMH (31 MPH) and 35 KMH (21.75 MPH) for heavy goods and public service vehicles.
Gibraltar has just 31 miles of paved highways and has one of the highest levels of per capita car ownership in the world.

Sounds like it will have the highest camera/road miles ratio soon as well. |

I assume that as soon as they catch the first Spanish driver, the border will be closed again! _________________ iPhone 5 with TomTom Western Europe and Australia.

Seems a bit sledgehammer and nut. And I would have thought for such a small mileage, a better solution would be to employ one policeman with a handheld thingy and tell him to issue enough tickets to pay his wages and make a profit on top! Even let him do on the spot cash and/or card. Could be a nice little earner with that speed limit (and none of your 10% + 2 nonsense). With 31 miles of road and speed limit of 30mph, why does anyone have a car? _________________ Dennis

Having been to Gibralter, I can't see how anyone can speed over there. The roads are very congested.

You can, but they were installed just over a year ago. It looks like the source Rob linked to simply re-hashed a news story from the previous year (it happens frequently - bots used to search for news and create a new story).
So you can check but they're not new...

I was there last year and the cameras were already existed but covered up.
According to the locals the Police don't check for speeding anyway. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,
