oncoming flashing camera

Hi hope someone can confirm for me as finding a lot of conflicting information.
I was driving home on Govan road in Glasgow when got flashed face on by a Gatso camera it was on the other side of the road but there were lines on both sides of the road.

It did double flash and I was doing 37 in a 30 will I get done?

Possibly, although they are not supposed to flash oncoming traffic on a single carriageway. The lines on the road are for trapping overtakers.
But hold your breath for 14 days and let us know how you got on after then.

If the camera was on the other 'pavement' then you are probably OK. If it was in the centre of the road and is a Truvelo then it's gotcha, if it's got film.

As far as I understand it, Gatsos are only licenced to operate in rear-facing mode, so you should be OK.

Of course, Scotland operates differently to England & Wales in many legal areas - I wouldn't know whether this was one of them!

If you are prone to drifting to 37 in a 30 limit and there are Truvelo's around then remember to take a comb with you to look your best in the forward facing mugshot photo.

So it still looks like a wait and see will be interesting to find out what the law actually says for Scotland you would have thought there would be definitive answer to this. Anyone?

I'm sure It was a Gatso as it flashed twice and was a big square in shape.
The most annoying thing was I had taken the wrong exit at the last roundabout

I've often set off cameras by driving quickly in the wrong direction ... But on blue lights. Gatso cameras can't record oncoming vehicles but will flash if they are driving above a certain speed, however if it was a forward facing camera like a truvelo then you are likely to be prosecuted, and really if you were at 37 in a 30 limit you shouldn't expect any less.

Truvelo is infra red, doesn't flash.
