|
|
I have the TomTom Go Live 825 and it's a great Sat Nav.
As I'm a van driver I wanted my new Sat Nav to have a built in dash cam.
TomTom doesn't offering anything and the new models don't even have bluetooth connectivity like my current model has.
I have ordered a Garmin DriveAssist 50LMT-D.
I have always had TomToms and don't know what to expect with a Garmin.
Is it going to take a bit of time to get used to? |

That's the one I'm thinking of changing to.
It all depends on whether the traffic receiver is built in, and therefore comes with a TA cable and not the plug in washing line aerial like the current Nuvicam.
Keep me/us posted. _________________ Satnav:

Same as the current Nuvicam 'in the box' description:

Which is misleading _________________ Satnav:

Haven't used the 50 - but have the 70 and DriveLuxe 50 and both are built in traffic (not lead - only using the (thin) lead as an Ariel) - so I would expect the 50 and 60 to be the same _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

Would buying the GTM 70 Digital Traffic Receiver Power Cable mean the thin aerial lead would not be required? |

No point the supplied cable is thinner and has in my experience better reception than the external dedicated lead
These new units have the traffic receiver in the unit the old lead was much thicker and was aerial and receiver but much thicker and less friendly on the dash _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

I have my current TA cable hidden behind the dash and only about 6" of it is showing.
What I've found is that if you cable tie it to a metal part of the car then you can coil it and it still works perfectly OK. I'm getting 4 out of 5 bars traffic signal strength.
What I'm looking to do is just replace the unit and continue to use the current TA cable = less than a few minutes to fit. _________________ Satnav:
