Has anyone any success with this update?
Express reports three updates,
Time Zone Map v17.00,
Device Software v8.30
plus the listed map release.
i get a large red banner in Express that "There was an error installing the update"
Any guidance please?

Worked fine here on several units - so I guess it was a connection / download issue. I would re-try and make sure your computer doesn't enter sleep mode or standby as its quite a large download

Thanks for the confirmation that it was my setup. Express required an update (despite all settings for auto update). Once that was done the updates fed in and it is now downloading the map update too.

When are these maps compiled?
There used to be a big roundabout near where I live and it was replaced recently by traffic lights.
The work started in July 2015 and was completed in December 2015.
The new map still shows the roundabout...

It always takes ages. Assuming they've been told about the change?

Once they have they then have to calibrate any map changes to ensure the routing engine does it's job properly.

Thats the benefit of TomTom Maps on TomTom units - they typically include major changes (like what you mention, in my experience) as it happens, or just after (sometimes even before, which I suppose is just as bad!)

A major junction change of the M4 near me was on TomTom days after opening, has appeared on Garmin (Here Maps) with this release about 6 months later, and directions on it are now incorrect

In my opinion Here needs open collaborative map updating and invest in the actioning these reports have TomTom have otherwise they will fall further behind, and mapping technology and its accuracy becomes ever more critical

By ages, Kremmen means that it can sometimes take several years.
But I wish he would stop making excuses for their tardiness.

Google maps has had, for several weeks, a navigable link road near me that was opened last November. Latest Garmin maps don't have it. A roundabout on it is at Latitude: 50.85840 Longitude: 0.48045. Can someone see if it's on the latest TomTom maps as a comparison.

Cmon Garmin, buck up, there's no real excuse. If Google can do it, why can't you?

A question for G300BPV. Have you reported your 'pet' error?

some companies don't move as fast as others, and it isn't always due to lack of resources

That doesn't mean I agree with the way Google operates - I don't - but sometimes you need someone to interrupt the market to shake up the existing, more professional suppliers

You should not bitch about how long it takes for the mapping company to update the maps with new or changed roads until you have reported the change via

https://mapcreator.here.com/mapcreator

Then allow about 6 to 12 months for the change to seep through to the maps released by Garmin. Even then you might have to wait a bit according to the companies priorities.

If they do not know about the road change they cannot make the change on the map.

That's blx. Don't defend their slackness.

Then how come Google got the new link road near me mapped and navigable so quickly on smartphones etc.?

The other companies are slack. Even when they are told about a change it takes them forever to get it sorted. They are navigation companies after all, if Google maps can be so on the ball, why can't they?
My Garmin history shows tracks along the new road where I have been along it a number of times.

As a matter of interest. I just checked my local link road, and it's on the HERE main map Here, but not on my Garmin. Now who's to blame, HERE or Garmin?

And why should I have to 'Sign in' to tell them about a map change? They are getting the info for free.
