I've just downloaded Cameralert and have a few questions when it's running in the background behind Waze. For reference, I'm using an iphone 4 on a bar mounted holder on a motorbike, which is communicating to me via a Bluetooth headset.

1. When going through an average speed zone (SPECS, Vector, etc), will my AVERAGE speed automatically be displayed somewhere on the screen in the waze front end?

2. If using the CA app on a standalone basis, does the average speed display automatically appear when going through an av speed system? I know it can be activated by tapping the speed display on the standalone app, but I'd like for this to be automatic (I haven't tested this through an av speed zone, so don't know whether it is currently automatic or not). As a motorcyclist, it would be handy if it was auto activated.

3. Are there any options to allow the current speed & average speed displays to be larger, i.e. take up the whole display? When in Map, Show, Never mode, this would be very helpful, as no other info is needed on the screen.

4. Does the average speed reset for EACH pair of cameras in the average speed system?

5. Within Waze, is anyone aware of how to disable the Waze camera related alerts to only leave the PGPSW alerts? I've gone into settings, display settings, show on map, and disabled speed cameras, but I still receive alerts via Waze.

6. The ENTIRE 13 mile stretch of Vector controlled road along the A40 coming into London from the West is missing from the DB? Not one warning this morning (using the app behind Waze).

thanks

I will answer one question.

1. Nope. The App will repeat (voice) if over the limit, BUT NOT over the average.

Oh I read more ..

2. yes it automatically displays

3. Nope

4. As far as I know, it averages the complete length, so not each pair.

5.

6. You could mark it, but that is difficult to do on a bike.

Thanks for the replies.

It would be very helpful to see the average speed (between pairs though, see below) on the front end of Waze, as then if I get stuck in traffic, I know that there is a certain amount of leeway to catch up whilst still keeping my average speed between two cameras below the limit (for that pair)

The problem with the average being with respect to the whole section is that within the 13 mile controlled zone, there are 4 discrete speed limits, 50, 40 , 30 and back to 40.

Without knowing which cameras are paired together to calculate an average, working out the average over the entire section is a very poor idea. I really hope that isn't what they've implemented, as other than for permanent 50mph controlled zones, the alarm system is then almost useless.

The average needs to be per pair of cameras. This is the ONLY way to account for the changes in limits along the route.

How could I discuss this with the app developers?

Happy to be proved wrong of course!

Consider yourself to be proved wrong.
The average speeds resets as you go past each camera, so it measures your average speed between any two. It does not measure your average speed from the start of the section as per the rather less than excellent TomTom rendering.

Thanks for clarifying. That makes more sense.
