Commissioner Vows Speed Cameras Will Be Reactivated

West Midlands' new police commissioner David Jamieson has said that the funding of fixed speed cameras in his area is a priority.

Jamieson, a former Solihull councillor, was also transport minister in the last Labour government.

He vowed to find the money to reactivate many of the 305 cameras that were decommissioned in March last year.

Since the mass switch off, apart from officers on patrol, speeders in the West Midlands have been monitored by just four mobile camera units and fixed cameras on motorways.
