I am running the Camera App on a Samsung S3 (Android 4.3). App works 30-40% of the time. At other times, app is running but not reporting any cameras as I go pass them.
The green GPS icon is on (bottom left) and camera has a GPS lock.
Any ideas ?.
Database is up-to-date (I have a subscription).

Thanks.

It is directional so will not alert for cameras on 'the other side' of the road. Is this what you are experiencing?

No, it doesn't work with cameras that are in the direction of travel

I have also noticed this as well. I have it on a Moto G.

GPS lock is on and Waze is running fine.

As I approach a certain camera site I start to get the big red 30mph flash up when I am approaching the 30mph section of a road through the village.

How ever as I approach the app just stops working and no more notifications. This happens everytime now coming up to the same camera location.

I believe it might be something to do with the lack of a mobile phone signal in this village (I mean no matter what network you have nothing works in and around the village and never really has done some over these years, a real blackspot.

Thgere a 4 roads that intersect at a cross roads and the speed camera is situated at the cross roads, and no matter which direction you come into the village the app just stops and needs restarting once you leave the village and get some sort of mobile signal.

Does the app rely on a mobile phone signal to pull data from a server?

What hapens if there is no signal and you do get to report a location, does the app store the location details and re-transmit later on when the phone gets a network mobile signal.

As I understand it, you only need a data connection if you are displaying the maps in CA. Background running or List mode does not require a phone connection.

My issue may be related to audio. I normally run the app in background mode. Last week I turned on the screen as I was approaching a camera and I could see the warning on the screen. There was no sound. My phone's volume was turned to max. I also tried setting the custom volume for the app. Still no voice warnings.

Also, tried re-installing the app. No difference.

Are you linked to any bluetooth in the car?

Yes. Audio output is set to "Default". In the past, I used to get voice alerts from the phone's speaker with the same set-up (i.e. same car, same phone, Bluetooth on).

Looks like the issue was audio output settings. I changed it to "Device Speaker" and works now. It used to work with "Default" before, not sure why it stopped working.
Thanks everyone for comments and suggestions.

Yes, I am running 4.3. I think the last update was a couple of months ago.

Correct. My Nexus 10 has been updated to 4.4 a couple of days ago. But that is pretty irrelevant really.

Not really... a recent update could have changed how the default audio routing is handled within the android OS...

You miss understand me MaFt. I meant that the update to A 4.4 on my N10 is irrelevant to the current topic, which refers to the S3.
The S3 was updated to 4.3 quite a while ago, so unless the OP has had the problem since that time, it is unlikely (although possible) to be an issue. And from what he said, his phone was updated a couple of months ago, and the implication is that his problem was not caused by the update.

Anyway, it's ALL irrelevant as the OP has fixed his problem. Very Happy
